The Power of Paint

Realtor News recently published an article about using paint to your advantage to get your home ready to sell or just to get a fresh look. Home remodels can be costly, but sometimes a gallon of paint in specific areas can make all the difference. Paint is an excellent bang for your buck!

1. Refresh functional cabinetry with color.

If the layout of a kitchen still functions well, painting cabinetry can be helpful to reimagine the space before you commit to replacement. And maybe you won't want to! These days it's best to use soft, warm color tones, which look great when paired with natural wood tones (i.e. flooring, butcher block counter top, bar stools, or accessories like a wooden bowl with fruit in it) and warm hardware.

2. Use the front door to boost curb appeal.

When talking to clients about selling their home, I often suggest they stand on the sidewalk in front of it and look at the house with a fresh eye. Curb appeal is important. Painting a front door can add character, but it should still complement the home's existing materials and finishes.

3. Make architectural details feel intentional.

Architectural details such as built-in bookshelves or window seats are sometimes already part of a home. Paint can help them feel more designed. Utilizing a deeper contrasting color can create a more finished look by adding definition.
