On Sunday, I drove up to Red Rock planning to hike Turtle Peak, only to find that drivers without a reservation were being routed back out onto Charleston. We drove further up the road and hiked South Oak Creek, one of the hikes/walks outside of Red Rock Canyon. It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed the mostly flat land walk. I was a bit disappointed though not to get the more strenuous Turtle Peak hike in, with its rewarding panoramic view of the city.
I went on the Red Rock website and learned that beginning October 1, 2021, the Bureau of Land Management requires Timed Reservations for vehicle entry to the Scenic Drive between 8am and 5pm through May 31, 2022. Click here to make a reservation.
