Las Vegas has gained several professional sports teams over recent years. The Aces, the Golden Knights, and the Raiders all come to mind, but did you know that Las Vegas is home to a professional men’s box lacrosse team? In December of 2022, the Desert Dogs kicked off their inaugural season in the National Lacrosse League in Las Vegas. They play home games at the Mandalay Bay Michelob ULTRA Arena.
If you are not familiar with the sport of lacrosse, it has been played in North America since the 1500s (originally a Native American game) and has been called the “fastest sport on two feet." Its field version is the fastest growing high school sport in America. It combines attributes from several sports (soccer, hockey, and basketball, to name a few) into one amazing, fast-paced event. Box lacrosse especially incorporates speed, agility, and physicality into one entertaining experience. l highly recommend attending a game if you love live sporting events!
