Happy Ending

For the price of a couple of lattes, I had an amazing two hour massage at one of the many Thai massage parlours in Chiang Mai. These ladies are pros. My masseuse laid out soft shapeless pajamas for me to put on, through which she kneaded muscles in my body that I didn't even know I had. At the finish, she actually got on to the table with me and twisted me into a super nice stretchy pretzel shape that felt like an intricate yoga pose.

After the massage, I was guided to a chair in the lobby where soft music was playing and served a glass of tea and a snack. I got three massages while I was in Thailand and each time they served a cup of tea and a delicacy: a dried rice cake with a drizzle of caramel across the top, slices of unripe mango (which were surprisingly crunchy and delicious), fried banana chips seasoned with chili pepper. The perfect Happy Ending!
