Favorite Buddhas

I didn't realize there were so many different Buddha statue poses. I saw statues everywhere and each was unique. I learned the different poses represent various aspects of the beliefs, teachings, and stages of Buddha's life.
I was surprised to see a reclining Buddha and was struck by a tall elegant Buddha tucked in next to a small mountain on a beach at Hua Hin. However, my favorite Buddha was squat and golden and seated on the ground at the corner of a building at Wat Chedi Luang, a 600 year old temple in Chiang Mai. He seemed accessible and friendly and had a slot for donations. At least I hope that’s what that slot was for, as all my change went into his tummy.
