Disconnect to Reconnect

This past weekend, my kids and I went camping up in the Sierra Nevada mountains with family and friends. The campground—just outside of Big Pine, California—is about a 4.5 hour drive from Vegas. It’s nestled in between mountain peaks, adjacent to an awesome creek, and is without any cell service. The vibe up there was totally different. The zero reception forces you to unplug and, honestly, it’s refreshing not to be glued to your phone every second. The kids ran around and played with each other. My boys spent time sharpening the end of sticks. I took the most epic nap in a hammock right by the water. We had a hilarious dance party in the rain. And the stars! Seeing the Milky Way sprawled across the sky above is downright magical. So, if you get the chance, escape from the daily grind. I camp once a year and while I always grumble and moan beforehand, I’m always glad I went afterward.
