Back to School

Parents rejoice and commuters beware! Kids are going back to school! The first day of classes for the Clark County School District begins on Monday, August 12th. If you’re out driving in the morning or early afternoon, be sure to watch out for those school zones!

This year, my eldest son starts middle school. I’m excited and nervous, happy and sad, and everything in between. It’s incredible how quickly the last 11 years have flown by. I’ve always said that my own age doesn’t make me feel old—my kids’ ages do. My little boy is not so little anymore. With every passing year, I have to loosen my grip a little, so to speak. He’s becoming more and more independent. He can’t have his mom doing and controlling everything. Pretty soon, I’ll have a teenager on my hands!

My youngest son will be going into 4th grade this year. Unlike his brother and mom, he is a social butterfly. He loves to talk and be in charge. He’s the sweetest boy with the biggest attitude. Sometimes I feel like he is closer to teenage-hood than his brother.

Anyway! Cheers to all the other parents who survived another summer. 🎉 A ridiculously big toast to all the teachers out there—y’all are the real MVPs. 🥂 And, if anyone has any advice on raising a middle schooler, please let me know! 😆
