Today is National Aunt and Uncle’s Day. Moms and dads. Grandmas and grandpas. Those relationships are celebrated often. Today allows us the opportunity to honor a different set of relatives—ones who sometimes don’t get the credit they deserve.
Growing up with a dad in the Air Force meant we moved around a lot. It also meant that relationships with extended family was more difficult. As a millennial, smart phones weren’t a thing when I was a kid. We didn’t have FaceTime or video chats. As such, I don’t have as close of relationships with my extended family as some who were born and raised in the same spot.
Fast forward to today. When my oldest Ethan was born, my siblings lived in different states. Eventually my sister and brother moved back to Vegas. Then, my sister ended up marrying a man with a boy almost the same age as my youngest Wesley. Now, I am grateful everyday that my kids have awesome relationships with their Auntie April & Uncle James and Uncle Wally & Uncle Michael. So, here is my shoutout to them. You guys are the BEST!
